    DODGE 3500 Problems

Has any one had the Dodge Shakes or Death wobble as stated on the net.

I have bought 2 new Dodge 3500 this year. Both of wich have developed a scary front end shake while hitting a bump and normal driving speeds. This shaking does not stop until you almost get the truck to a stop. The first truck dodge had it 4 times and could not get it fixed. Dodge bought that truck back with 7000 miles on it.

The truck i'm in now created this same death wobble at 4000 miles. The dealership worked on it and it has lasted 2 months and now has 9000 miles on it and the shackes are back. This morning my wife was taking our kids to school hit a bump at 60 miles hr and it caused her to go into oncoming traffic wich she did not hit anyone. She tried to corect it and she ended up in the ditch (Scary).

I have tried to talk with Chrysler The dealer sales person and no one can help me with this. The dealer says that i am the only this has happened to. So i searched Dodge Death wobble on the net and got numerous cases. I am getting out of this truck and into another brand and am in the process of getting a lawyer to make them buy it back. Will never ever drive another Dodge and put my life or familys at risk.

ford straight axle trucks do that on occasion but at 100,000-150,000 miles on the suspension it ended up being bad leaf spring bushing (were the spring connects to the truck) they are wore out and have to much play so it causes a shake at high speeds but goas away around 40 mph
maybe the same problem who knows...dont know how dodge sets there suspension up in the front

      good luck!!!!!!!!

is it a mono beam axle??????

Have you by chance raised your tire pressure?

All solid front axle vehicles are capable of the shakes. It is your shocks not being able to control your suspension. You could very well fix it with a different set of shocks and steering stabilizer.

It will scare the hell out of you and is a very dangerous condition to live with. I've had it on 2 vehicles and it was always a result of weak shocks and high tire pressure.......

Alot of people here at work were talking about this the other day. 5 or 6 people on the same shift own Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4's and they claimed that they have all experienced the death wobble. The mileage on these trucks range from a 3000 to 30000.

I just recently had it happened to me. But was warned it could happen when I installed my leveling kit and it did almost a year later. Not sure what causes it but had it removed and that took care of it. You haven't put a leveling kit on it have you. I never had that problem before installing the spacer. My truck has 55,000 miles. Hope you get it fixed.

On the Dodges they have a trac bar. lay down in frt of the truck and have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth. Its a solid bar about 3 1/2 ft long. some might mistake for some steering linkage. where it attaches on the drivers side, You should have 0 movement between that trac bar and the frame that it bolts to. My guess is You will see some slop when You rock it back and forth. replace trac bar.... I have fixed many a dogge with that one part. Of course You will also be looking for other loose tie rod ends while Your there. Also, pull a tape on Your frt wheels. You will want approx 1/8" toe in also. straight ahead or tow out will also cause steering problems. Good luck
