    which bullet?

    If you were getting a new gun and wanted an all around bullet, something for elk to deer which one 300 win mag or a 7 mag? Or any other suggestions. Thanks

        300 Savage...not popular, but it's my favorite and can handle everything you mentioned.

                .300 Win mag, 7mm Rem mag, nor any of the others suggested above are bullets. Those are all calibers... I'd say a Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, or a Nosler Partition in any caliber bigger than a .22 would normally result in an exit wound.

                  Guess I should have asked ya'll to exolain why you suggested what you did. pros and cons. And I don't need a huge cannon my dad already has a 338 ultra mag I can use whenever I want I just hate sighting that thing in!

                        .308. Hands down. It will take down anything you shoot in the right spot, and do it well. You can find a .308 rifle dirt cheap, you can buy ammo almost anywhere. And it doesn't kick you like a mule.

                          30-06. Great bullet and ammo selection for dang near everything in north America. Not to mention you could walk into any small town ma & pa store will have some ammo for it in stock. It's kinda one of those if it ain't broke kinda deals. Been putting meat on the ground since 1906.
