    talk about a bad day...

recently we fished the mcdonalds tournament on lake sam rayburn...my buddy, on the first morning of the tournament, in the first legal fishing hour, was throwing a top water in about 6' of water when he got hung up on a lilly pad. he jerked several times & when the chug bug came off the lilly pad, needless to say, it came to see him in a sure quick hurry. he caught the barbs of the back trebel hook right in the side of his eye. it went in deep, & we immediatly took him back to the boat ramp where his wife picked him up & took him to the e.r. There, they cut out the hooks, quickly stitched him up, & he was back with us on the water by 10:00 a.m....within an hr of bein back on the water, he was slingin a chug bug again off a point when an absolute TOAD just exploded on it....he crossed his eyes and the rod tip broke straight over and it was game time...about twenty feet from the boat, the fish came out of the water and we thought we were about to be rich!...we had the net waiting and were ready to throw him in the live-well and head to the weigh-in & get a check, & about 8' from the boat, the line went limp, rod tip came up, & the chug bug came up floating...for about 20min, we slumped down in the boat, & no one fished or even spoke...that fish was an easy 12 lbs....it was one of troy's "tree shakers"...after we all gathered our thoughts and the color finally came back to my podnuhs face, he reeled in what was left of his line & we saw two barbs of the trebel hook completely straightened out...& these were the good hooks too...not the cheap ones...i dont think ive ever seen 3 grown men so sick as we were....10.85 ended up bein the biggest fish of the weekend & winning the tournament....talk about a bad day....& one helluva story it woulda been if he woulda come back from the e.r. to win the tournament, because if anyone knows, the mcdonalds tournaments are popular tournaments for amatures & the one on rayburn will usually have 25000 entries or so if im not mistaking....but it was for sure not a day to remember for him!

Dang bud, but thats one more reason to ALWAYS HAVE SUNGLASSES ON WHILE FISHING. I have a buddy who's dad lost his eye due to a tx rig and another buddy who has had 10grand worth of work done to his and still cannot see good due to a catfish sinker.

It was just a little face art, a real man would have kept fishing.
