Not sure if any remember him from the Dallas area, but Danny Faulkner died last night

Uncle Danny (as he'd have me and my sister call him), was a great man to my family. Some might recognize his name with the I-30 condo / land deals around the East Dallas, Garland, and Rowlett areas. To me and my family, he was a kind-hearted, generous, loving, man that helped many that knew him.

He lived a long, full, life and I feel like I'm a better person for knowing him.

A friend of mine named Greg use to date his daughter back in high school. I never knew him and he may have been nice but the little game that he and his buddy played crashed the savings and loan industry and cost a lot of good people a lot of money.

yep - i know he wasn't perfect, but he was a heck of a guy to my family.

I remember all the fuss when the Condo/savings and loan fiasco happened. I don't remember all the details as I was just a snot noised brat back than.

Wasn't he originally a painter by trade?

Before my dad passed he told me that he read Faulkner's book. Said the guy was very smart. Although he did get caught but managed to get his life back.

I may have to look around the farm and see if I can find that book. My dad said it was a good read.

I remember him well. I grew up off of Rosehill and Oats there in Garland. He built 100's of Condo's there on Lake Ray Hubbard. I remember his Helo up on the hill by its hangar there offof I-30 and would always feel jelous about how cool that would be to have money like that...Rumor had it some time later in the late 80's that he went to jail...His daughter went to Lakeview.

Faulkner and Toler cost my granddad millions of dollars. My Grandad was never able to recover from the loss. He died 4 years ago. I guess the good do die young.

Sorry for your loss. I hope he did some thing to make up for the things he did and was a believer in Christ when he passed.

Yes - he was a painter by trade.

Thanks for the kind words. I know he did a lot of people wrong and I can't offer an excuse for that. All I can say, is that he was always great to me and my family and was just a joy to be around.

He cost a lot of people tons of money and bankrupt most that knew him at the time of his dealings. What he did was absolutely criminally wrong and he knew it at the time. He then went to jail and a mere 4 or so years later, he used his health to get out of the rest of his sentence - to live approximately 14 additional years as a free man.

I agree with Russ, I hope that he did some things to make up for all of his wrong doing. I don't doubt that on a personal level, he may have been a heck of fellow to be around.

I never met this man but did actually go to high school with his son. I have always heard about the condo thing as well but never really knew the details of what happened..

I met the old man a few times and he was great around us youngsters I knew his kids while growing up in Garland I have no bad memories nor whish any ill toward his family . To his kids I can only say remember the good times everything else will sort itself out with time.
