    You will also shoot it out quick without a river, lakes or major agricultural crops in the area to keep birds in the are. Even corn won't hold them with you and you college buddies pounding it 3 or 4 times a week.

    A couple of teal are pretty common on most lakes....hopefully you can draw some other birds but it's gonna take a season of looking before you know how valuable a honey hole it is.....with or without crops. Some areas just don't attract the birds like many.

    FTR Japanese millet cannot be manipulated in its first year. If it returns the next year without you replanting, it can be manipulated.

        Thanks for the replies. I am at the ranch getting started on it.

        This is a spot just for myself and brother to shoot a few birds off of. It wont be hunted very much and i will be happy if its a spot where we can knock down a couple of birds.

        If it doesn't work, I will have a pond and will only be out a little time and the cost of seed... and the dove out here can use it.
