    target ammo for self defense

am i the only one that uses regular target rounds for my carry weapons. i mean really, god forbid i ever had to shoot somebody in self defense. do you really think a perp is going to be worried if the bullet inside his body was a hollow point or a ball round. target ammo will get the job done for a fraction of the cost of so called "defense rounds".

The difference in those rounds is that the SD ammo is made to expand and stop, not go through the body. The prevents stray bullets from hitting innocent people.

Unless you shot people on a regular basis, it's worth it to buy a box. I bought one box of hp, shot a couple to make sure they shoot good, then leave one clip full of them.

A fraction of the cost? Is your life worth $30

Its silly, no stupid, to carry a weapon that's supposed to save your life and load it with anything but the best thing available. And that's not fmj

I think that in most cases, a good target round like Federal American Eagle will kill just as quickly as a hollow point.

But if was just a cost issue, I think that I would buy some hollow points that "might" perform better in a given situation.

Will the perp worry about it? Not at all. Will he have a slightly better chance of dying from the hollow points that may do more damage? Probably.

I would take a little more time to consider what you are contemplating and see if it still makes sense. I would venture to say that confronted with the worst of circumstances you would be wishing you had spent a little more money on those defensive rounds.

I would not worry about how dead someone was but the injured bystander from a pass thru thats gonna sue me for everything I have and gonna have. Thats why

                    This!

You are responsible for every round that leaves your gun. Having to justify your self defense shooting will be enough of a headache. Don't want to add a lawsuit for hitting an innocent person as well.

Yeah WTH? Really save what 25$ on a 20rd count of hollow points? Way to cut costs! The one chance I'm going to use my gun, I want the best ammo flying out to protect me.....

I reload everthing that I shoot, so the cost of self defense ammo isn't that high because the only thing different is the projectile!

                            Energy transfer.

Are you trying to punch little holes, or are you trying to stop someone from injuring or killing yourself and your loved ones?

A RN punches little holes and keeps on going. Yes, it does damage, but wastes alot of energy when it exits the body and endangers others.

A good jacketed HP expands, does more damage due to a larger wound channel, and exhausts ALL of its energy in the body, causing increased shock to the body.

Go shoot a deer with a FMJ out of a rifle and see if you find it. In self defense you want stopping power and for the object you are shooting to adsorb the energy of the bullet and not go thru. Unless you shoot them between the eyes your just punching holes.
