Here's Another One For The Dog Owners

Disclaimer: This post is not to get folks riled up. Rather to show just how stupid some Americans are. Tethering a dog...illegal??? When does it end? Pretty soon they will have their own chairs at the head of the dinner table and it will be illegal to feed them anything other than filet mignon.

Dang!!! there goes the Iditarod. If you have ever lived in Alaska and been apart of Fur Rendevous each year. Those dogs live to run and be hooked up to a sled. Its pretty apparent we got way to much government in our business.

I understand the sentiment behind the bill. We've all seen irresponsible owners who leave their dog tied to a tree in the backyard 24/7 and just toss it some food every day or two with no other human interaction. That's cruelty, IMO. However, like the majority of "feel good" legislation, it has unintended consequences. In this case, punishing responsible dog owners who use tethers from time to time.

True enough- agreed with the prolonged-unattentive tethering aspect.
however, Ever seen what a 4 month old catahoula thats not tethered will do?
Probably not, because its doing it some place other than where you want it to be doing it

The law won't make any difference to those types of dog owners anyway. So tethering is illegal but you can leave them in a plastic dog crate 24/7? Stupid.

I agree, no dog should be tethered, ever

                    BTW, what does tethered mean?

We have a city law here that states you cannot keep you dog on a tether or chain and that is mainly aimed at people that have no fence for their yard. Problem around most places with most dogs on a chain or a tether is they are the bully breeds or big dogs, pits, Rotts, Shepherds and such and keeping dogs like this on a chain or whatever with all the people running around and teasing them will turn a dog like that meaner than you know what. This law may be aimed at owners like this, but it can also be used to prosecute responsible dog owners, the easiest ones to prosecute. If people had some common sense this law would be no problem, but a lot of people lack common sense.
