    Kansas Questions

I've tried searching the last couple of hours for any info regarding hunting over feeders or hand corn in Kansas and haven't had any luck. If you type feeders on the Kansas website it pulls up info on hummingbird feeders. Anyone have any links or info they can provide on the subject? I would greatly appreciate it if you would post it here.

Feeders are legal. But pouring piles of corn is what works up there. The deer are used to piles being dropped out of combines.

Never understood the use for feeders in Ks. You really don't need one. But like hopco said, just dump it in a pile, and I mean at least a couple hundred pounds.

We set up three feeders last year as my rancher friends laughed. Put up some game cameras and headed back to Texas. 2 weeks later they checked the pics and had a nice dinner of crow. One pic had 3 bucks in it that would score 150 or better with one going a lot higher. On Nov. 11th I had an 11pt. walk in to one of the feeders set up 50 yards away then after feeding for 10 minutes he walked right under me. Worked for me and made a believer out of some Kansas boys.

Piles work best for the big boys, cuz they will scent check later in the season when the does camp out on your piles.

No feeders necessary... Just find some trails and set up cameras on several different trails.

            Good luck!!!

This is the way I do it. Trails are very easy to locate in Ks. Another reason I hunt Ks, to get away from the feeder thang, and hunt them on their own terms. To shoot a 140 or bigger with your bow without the use of a feeder or bait pile is soooooooooooooooooooooooo much more gratifying and satisfying. Also, the deer up there, or at least where I hunt, are so much more vocal. I have rattled in and snort wheezed more deer in the 7 yrs I've hunted up there than I've seen all the years I've hunted in Texas. Brother, that's a lot of deer!!!

Can you put out corn piles on public land up there?
