Can Anybody Make an Atl Atl?

My daughter was assigned a project on Wednesday to make an Atl Atl for history class. Anybody (Todd) have any tips on making one on short notice?

I made one once, hit the target, but could not bring myself to hunt with it.

I was too scared I would mess up.
I just stick with bow drills and such, its fun to build one with the nieces and fiancee's grandkids and hear them say "Wow!"

Does anyone here actually hunt with an atl-atl?

I posted about it back some years ago when I did it. I'll see if I can dig up a picture. Missed about a dozen times before I killed the first one. Had to be within 8 yards. That was the tough part.
