    Thoughts on the rut

In the county I hunt in Kansas there are more deer killed by automobiles on November 18th than any other day. After bowhunting the same place for 6 years in a row, all before or just barely overlapping this date I think I've realized something.

We all know that the young bucks try to start the rut before the does are ready to be bred. I haven't seen many big bucks(140+ class) during these hunts. I know these deer are there because we have trail cam pics of them, usually at night. Could the date that most deer are killed by automobiles be when the middle age and young bucks are chasing does but may be a few days before the does are really ready to be bred and that's why the more mature bucks aren't moving as much yet ? I know I'm in some great spots...travel corridors, and feeding areas.

    Your thoughts?

Is the way I worded it confusing?

Yes. The more mature bucks are waiting till the time is right.
A little lazy like old guys are. The young ones are spunky.

Hunt a week later and see what happens.
