S.I.L. Getting Out of Army & Looking

Hey fellas, my S.I.L. is getting out of the Army this Friday.
HE is also a wounded warrior, and hard worker.
He will be returning to Texas and start the job search.
He is currently a medic and has multible years of EMT work
before he entered the military as well.
He will be looking for anything right now.

If you know of anything hit me up and I will pass it along.
    Thanks.

In that field He should be able to find something. I have a friend that just got home after 8 years of duty and worked as a helicopter mechanic that cant find anything ever a job at taco bell. This is pitiful and makes me sick.

Despite what all the advertising says,ALOT of the military jobs don't transfer into the civilian sector.

Good luck to him, tell him to look for military specific job fairs. I know they hold a few around Houston every now and then. I think military.com may list them but I could be wrong. I had a hard time finding a job when I got out of the Marines in 09 and after a few months with no luck a buddy hired me, I don't know how long it would've taken if he hadn't.

I feel bad for him and asked him why he doesnt go back in the service. He said there is a rumor of them cutting jobs there also and he wanted to get a head start before like 150,000 military jobs were cut. Sad to see people working that cant speak english and a soldier cant even find work. Looks like I may be able to hire him here hopefully, but been a slow year starting out so far.

Thanks Scout. You can PM the company name if you dont mind.
DJM you are so right. So many military careers do not slide over in it to civilion jobs.
                  Thats why he is open.

Where is he looking, there are quite a bit of jobs out there for somebody willing to go where the work is and actually work. Theres always work here around Houston. Also I know they still have a hard time filling all the oilfield jobs. I dont really buy those cant find work stories most of the time. Because as soon as the unemployment runs out they always miraculously find a job. Not saying your buddy is one of these people just saying Ive seen alot of that. If either of the guys are interested in working in the oilfield, pm me and Ill get him in touch with a friend. It can be between 84 to 112 hrs a week, but its more money than being unemployed. Gonna have to have a clean record and driving record and capable of getting a cdl, but they pay and train for that.

Tell him Thank You for his service.. Is he wanting to stay in the E.M.S. field?

Can he go to school and get a nurse degree? I have been told nurses are in high demand.

Oilfield is booming south of san antonio. Should be plenty of work down there.
