Stacked up behind the pass this morning

I waded the south shoreline of west bay this morning and picked up a few reds early but all were under 20". Decided to do some driving and see how a few of the regular wading spots looked. The backside of San Luis Pass is packed, which I figured it would be. There's gotta be 60-70 guys fishing from boats, kayaks and wading lined up up and down the guts as far as you can see. And in early summer the pass is a heck of a place to fish, one of the few spots you can catch a trout, flounder or red on any cast. I'm done fishing this morning, but I think it's a pretty cool sight seeing so many guys spending their Memorial Day wknd doing what they enjoy. Made me stop and think about what this holiday actually means. I'm blessed to be able to get up and take my boys fishing, and be safe bc soldiers go over there and kick *** to keep our country secure. Any of you guys that serve or have served in armed forces, we all sure appreciate it! Click image for larger version

Yeah, I hardly fish weekends as much, and def normally not holidays...but if I'm here I might as well go. This stiff SW winds past few days have most areas off color, and surf rough/sandy

I haven't been to the pass in 2 years....what part of the pass has freshly mowed grass now?

As I first read this my thought was "why would you fish, when it was that crowded. Do they really thing they are going to catch that many?". But your right. They are doing what they love and we all know that a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. Happy memorial day everyone.

@Man- this is about a quarter mile from pass on Galveston side, near Point West. The shoreline of Point West gets mowed every week or so
