        Iberostar Grand Paraiso

I stayed here 2 times and it was by farther nicest resort I have stayed at in Mexico. It is adults only, serves premium alcohol, great food and room service and every 4 rooms shares a butler that is on call 24/7. It is right next door to a sister resort that is for families but you only see kids when at the beach.

So many choices...... A lot of you sure talked up the El Dorado Royale. We'll take a close look at that one.

My wife was looking into Blue Bay Grand Esmerelda. Anyone ever been there or know anything about it? It is a little cheaper and still has 4.1 stars compared to 4.7 that El Dorado has. For the package deal (flight + resort) Expedia is quoting $1430 for the two us at Blue Bay, and $2172 at El Dorado. A difference of about $750.

She's also looking into Secrets Capri, which is $1940.

We have been to the El Dorado Seaside and Royale. Royale is awesome.

Isnt the Blue Bay Getaway a clothing optional place????? You may be in to that or you may want to look into it a little deeper.

Man they're all GREAT! We enjoyed the Japanese place right out the front door. Just be sure to take some slacks with you or else they won't let you in for dinner! Don't ask me how I know...

Oh yeah.....we DO NOT eat sushi!!! It's used for bait and bait only!!!

The Iberostar Paraiso Maya is nice and has great beaches but is a family resort. I believe Iberostar has an adult only side though. Check them out!

We all went to The Excellence Playa Mujeres 2 years ago and it was equally awesome.

Food selection was a little better at EDR but the distance from Cancun airport is a little further, also the rip-tide there sucks. They have a lagoon built with sand bags, but it's not quite like the ocean. The beach at Excellence is great, and has a Greg Norman signature golf course 2 minutes away, and it's only like 15 minutes from the airport. You can not go wrong with either one.

I'll give you a report on the Royal Playa Del Carmen in about a month.

What led you to choose The Royal, for your upcoming trip?

The Riviera Maya is all inclusive but when my family went there for spring break last year, it was overrun with french canadians and the food was horrible. Other than that it was alright. It has nice pools and other amenities but I would look elsewhere based on experience.

My sister picked it, after a reccomendation from a travel agent friend. They go somewhere different every year....we go with them every other year or so.
