    Remington Sendero 25-06 Scope Recommendations

I have got a Remington Sendero 25-06 that I have had for years. I'm currently leaning towards the Nikon Monarch SF 4 - 16 x 50mm with the Nikoplex reticle. I can get this scope new for $400 and can either the Nikoplex or the BDC reticle. Anyways, what does the experts on the GS recommend for this rifle that has the best bang for the buck that will not break the bank?

I ran the same scope on my 300 Win Mag. It's a good middle of the road scope for distance.

The 4-16 would be the largest I would put on that rifle.

You aren't going to be taking shots beyond 500 meters with it and most likely will be shooting closer than 200 would be my guess. At less than 200 meters you don't need that high power and the lower magnification offers good field of view to acquire your target or get off a quick shot if necessary. The scope you mentioned goes from 26.6 ft at 4 power down to 6 ft at 16. That's not much viewing area at max power.

I am a fan of the Nikon scopes and think they are the best bang for the buck on the market today.

I'm leaning towards the Nikon Monarch as well for my new 300 win mag. I have a zeiss and viper which are great, just needing something not in that same price range but with very good quality. Will be watching what others say on this thread

I would look at the vortex line of scopes. They are great.

I put a 4-16x40 VXIII Leupold on my long range rifle. Its the varmint reticle and I really like it.

Leupold 4x16 is a classic that you can't go wrong with. Personally I dont care for the Nikons. They are certainly functional but they just aren't my style. A lot of folks like them though. I have a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x50 on my .25-06. I have several long range shooters and I use the 06 for long walks in on public land in E Tx. No Need for a long range scope there.

                        4-16x40??? That's a mark 4 scope isn't it? That's really good glass!

The vari-x3or iii is a 4.5-14x 40 or 50... And it is awesome glass as well. I would throw this glass on any hunting rifle any day of the week...

However I am partial to the 6.5-20x50... Its never failed me. 6.5 is great for target acquisition and 20 is great for target recognition. But with some practice you should be able to acquire targets quickly even in high magnification.

4-12x40 or 50 is the vxii vxi and rifleman... I wouldn't suggest them for your primary shooting/hunting rig but if this is just a plinker then I would do the vxii.

As you can tell leupold gets my vote!

Leupold has a CDS system for your specific bullet you are shooting. I have two of them and love them.

Thanks for the input guys! It seems most of you are thinking the same as me as far as Nikon or Leupold being the way to go.

My .25-06 wears a Leupold 3.5-10 w/A0 and it does everything I ask of it---but it's not a spotting scope. And, I don't like 50mm objectives--just look out of proportion to me.
