Deer Mangament arcticle - good read

Just finished reading this article by Higginbotham and found it a very educational read for managing deer heards in Central Texas. Makes good sense and I'm begining to understand (not completely) why taking more does and can help.....just fy reading pleasure

    Definitely! Thanks for he info.

On thing that I noticed in the article that I have heard quite a bit of discussion on was the harvesting of spike deer. I have heard both sides of the argument, and still can't tell you what is best. He He He !

Also, I liked the following statment:
In populations that have sex ratios heavily skewed toward females (i.e., buck:doe ratios of 1:6 or more), the use of rubs and scrapes
I have never actually heard any one say this, but based upon what I have seen in the field I believe it to be true. I have wondered if my observation was correct.

Again, thanks for the good read!

I also like how he talked about habitat management. I hear many people breach this topic, but never go into enough detail to get anything practical and/or useful out of it.
