    hog hunting help

Heading out next weekend to our new ranch for some hog hunting. I have never hunted hogs before. I have a few cameras out and have seen two very large boars. I was planning on setting up on the two most active areas to see if I can stick one of the big guys.
    Any tips on hunting them?
Can I hunt the same day as set up if brushed in well?
    Best place to aim
    Where not to hit
    Best yardage
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Thanks guys..

Shoot 'em low behind the fore leg preferably quartering away. Vitals are a bit farther forward than on a wtd. Don't shoot center of mass--it'll be a gut shot.

I'd say they might shy away from a freshly placed blind--

Yardage? Whatever you are confident in placing the sharp BH in the vitals, assuming you are shooting adequate draw weight and appropriate arrows.

Good luck!!!! And, give us an after action report.

I'm assuming bow ? The big ones have fat that's so thick it's like armor. Get a good low lung shot and
Hope it drops. The ground blind
Kinda depends I usually don't put one up the same day I'm gonna hunt but if brushed in good it may not spook them.

You'll do fine with a good brushblind. Pop up would be iffy for first day setup and hunt. Try to wait for a quartering away shot if these guys are pretty big, that way you can get the arrow behind the shield forward into the vitals. You could throw out hand corn if you are just hunting a area they are frequenting. If your cams are on a feeder, just see what time they are showing up. I like to keep my shots at 20 and closer. Good luck, and hope to see some LDP's. Here is a pic of a quarter away shot that put this hog down in 25 yds. If it was a big one, you will notice how the arrow would go in behind the shield, and into the food stuff. Click image for larger version
