Off works ok, tip to soak your socks
And dampen your pant legs good
          Better 1 or 2 then 20 or 40

I use permethrin on my clothes and DEET on my skin- for when I wear shorts. I know flea collars work well too. Man I hate chiggars!
Check out the reviews on Sawyer Duranon at Cabelas!

I use Sawyer Permethrin and spray my cloths with it a week before I go hunting. Lasts for about 45 days or 4-5 washings.

I'm looking for some too to put on the yard for fleas.

Feed store or nursery. I think there is a product for roses that is 99% sulpher.

I think the right answer is: it depends on what your doing. Both are effective. I like the permethrin in the summer and early bow season, because it doesn't stink you up like deet. It's pretty easy to get busted hunting deer or hogs wearing even 20% deet. If you spray the permethrin on your clothes and let it dry per the instruction, you have a much better chance of not getting winded.

By far the most effective means of prevention. ^^^^
