    tree climbing spikes

i was wondering if anyone uses these. they are like pole climbers that loggers and lineman use. are they more faster than putting up tree steps or assembling tree sticks.

it all depends on the size of the tree you are going to climb in daylight or dark ?(are you physically able to do so ? )if so what are you going to hold onto with your hands ?,while assending the tree? if after you reach you desired height ,then what, ok, hopefully you've attached a rope to a tree stand and can hull it up to secure it to the tree, ok climb in it being carefull not to get climber spike cought in stand and trip,!!,then you must remove them and secure them some were out of the way as the spikes are longer then the boots you have to ware!!. while not making noise to spook the game, then your there hunting, after getting your bow or gun & other items up to your stand!!. now when your ready to desend repeat the process(may be its dark!!) they are great in the light of day and the tree is small enough to wrap yor arms around, but if youve never worn these you angle your one spike into the tree hard and then the other and start your climb(making sure your spike is in, if not you slip and with out a good hold your sliding down fast!!. they work well on trees with no limbs to climb, but when it is wet(caution is advised) i used to put my stand up and go in and out of the woods in the dark and climb to the stand quite offen, but not these days!! hope i have not descuraged any one from doing this !! (but be safe rather than sorry!!). ps and you still need to ware a safety belt , i used to be 25 ft up in a tree even when it snowed!

Usually where they don't let you use screw ins, they don't let you use anything that pierces the bark on the tree.

umm sounds just as noisy and dangerous as using tree steps and putting together tree sticks. im just looking to lighten my load thats all. just want to head out with treestand and no cumbersome steps or ladders. im in very good shape and i always use a linemans style belt. what idiot would use tree spikes without a linemans belt. thats how you do it hands free to begin with.

You have to be in REALLY REALLY good shape to use them and there is a difference between regular spikes for poles and spikes for trees--about an inch 1\2!
And there's NO SUCH THING as HANDS FREE when climbing a tree! (unless you have a prehensile tail like a monkey!)
In order to use spikes you must use a lineman's belt or else you could wind up sliding down and getting splinters in your hands.

I have a GREAT PAIR\SET-----only used once. Want to buy 'em!
