Good eats between Houston and SA on I-10

Wife and I are headed down to the Rangers v Astros game in Houston on Friday. On Saturday, we're going to take I-10 to San Antonio and stay there Saturday night on the riverwalk at the Hyatt. I already have Saturday's supper handled but wanted some options for lunch on Saturday. We've never been to this part of Texas. We're going to stop at Salk Lick south of Austin on Sunday for lunch.

I have a hole in the schedule as far as Saturday's lunch. Is there a "must stop" kind of place to eat between Houston and SA along I-10?

    Bucee's of course

As far as sit down places I can't think of any that I know of.

Ugh. I make the drive on I-10 between Houston-San Antonio frequently and haven't found any "must stop" type of places. I'll be following along to see what other say.

Whatever you do, DO NOT stop at Mikeska's BBQ in Columbus.

There is absolutely nothing to eat between Katy and Seguin. So you will have to pick something West of Seguin on that half of the drive.

Not a whole lots right on I-10. Roberts Steak house in Flatonia is pretty good. (sure wish Grumpys was still open) Oakridge or Franks in Schulenburg, then you got all the TGIFridays, Fuddruckers, Red Lobster places when u get to Katy Mills.

Not a lot of good eating in between, if you can wait till you get to San Antonio I can help you out.

Columbus has Nancy's Steakhouse, Schobel's Restruant, and Los Cabos. I prefer Los Cabos. Flatonia has Robert's Steakhouse which is very good.

On a side note, there's a high fence pen with elk in it on the north side of I-10 just east of Columbus, about a mile west of the Topperwein building that's in the middle of nowhere... They're growing out their antlers now and I always enjoy looking at them when I drive by... especially later on when the antlers get hard!

Los Cucos in Seguin is ok. Schobels in Columbus is good too.

Schobel's was pretty darn good the last time I ate there.

Fishbecks Shell in Weimar has the best chopped beef sandwich. In the state.

DO NOT eat at Bill Miller BBQ in Seguin. Some of the worst BBQ I've had in my life and definitely the worst sauce
