Why are used pickups out of state cheaper?

I've been looking for a good used 3/4 ton pickup, 4 door. Searching autotrader any distance just to see what is out there. And the kinda trucks I'm looking for that are 600 to 1,000 miles away are priced cheap and have low miles compared to here in Texas. This is at a dealership, too. Am I missing something as to why they are cheaper or is there just not a market for used 3/4 ton trucks out of state?

Everyone in Texas uses trucks. Which means the demand for quality used trucks is going to be higher. Just a thought. But seriously, are there other states???

If you're finding prices cheaper "up there" then it's simply because of RUST from the salt they use on the roads "up there".

Don't forget that a lot of 10 year old trucks go to Mexico...that drives the price up at the auctions which is what the dealers base their resale price on.

eggs and chevrolets are cheaper in the country.

demographics and what has been mentioned above.

I bought a new truck last year. I wanted to buy a year-old truck with under 15K in miles. Buying new was only about $1,500 more than pre-owned.

Trucks in TX are in demand, and hold their value.

Rust is probably a big factor. I was helping a buddy shop for a vehicle a few weeks ago. We saw an ad on cars.com for a 2000 silverado single cab V8 with 57,000 miles for $2500. Too good to be true? We went to see it and turns out it was from up north and the frame was almost rusted through...
