    Pup barking in crate

Been a while since I had a puppy. Three month old lab puppy. She goes out at 1030pm and then in the crate until 630am. She doesnt mess the kennel but if I get up to use the boys room or my daughter comes and gets in our bed she starts barking. Also, while we are home if we leave her in the crate for any time she starts barking.

Normal pup behavior or do I need to start correcting it?

Normal for pups. Our mini aussie pup has just gotten out of the barking / crying in the crate. Something that helped us was to cover up the crate with a sheet or something, seemed to help if we were still stirring around the house before bed.

IMO that would be reinforcing the behavior.

we placed a blanket or towel over the kennel .. and with the catahoula, she was tapped twice with the shock collar. no barking unless someone walks/drives up the driveway/frontwalk or back door.

Good time to start with the muzzle grab and teaching "quiet"

Got to let it run its course and dont give in when it starts to bark or its over with.

Im a little leary of collaring a 3mo old pup but after she is collar conditioned I wont hesitate.

Yyou dont have to have it set on bar-b-que
you could even use the tones.
The condition is when they bark they get a negative feedback. Age really isnt a factor..in fact the earlier you get them conditioned the easier the rest of the training will be..
my opinion of course.. i will definitely defer to the other trainers on here with more experience..

Earplugs. Don't reward negative behavior. If you find a copy if "Mother knows best" by Dr. Lee Benjamin, that's the book we used to train our goldens.

I used a spray bottle. I keep Hank's crate in the living room and I would put him in his crate sometimes while I watch TV, if he started barking he got sprayed. Also works well on misbehaving kids

Cover the kennel. It would be like me having a newborn baby in the house again. They sure are cute but you forget about everything else that goes along Good luck and it will get better

Take a wind up clock one that tick tocs wrap in in a towel and put it in the crate.
