Good luck Todd- you can do it!

I was already working out at a gym but after 2 years was gaining weight. A co-worker got me hooked up to MyFitnessPal with my stupid smart phone and I log in every day. It has been the biggest help! Since then I have steadily lost 1 pound a week; nearly 20 since September. Even the holidays were easy!

Exercise is obviously necessary but nutrition is the most important aspect. Find yourself a well reviewed nutritionist and get on a meal plan. The financial investment will help keep you accountable and you WILL succeed! Good for you sir.

Todd diabetes may be genetic for you. Having been diagnosed last September I can tell you to act NOW with diet and exercise. I am type 2 and have mine under control with only diet and exercise but did take meds for a couple of months. The one main problem from it now for me is peripheral neuropathy. This is my motivation to stay down the straight and narrow where my diet and exercise is concerned. Right now in the right quantities you can eat things that I no longer can. If you are diagnosed with diabetes that goes out the window. My doctor told me to walk 30 minutes a day and I do. I rarely miss. I went from 216 to 191 in a few months.

I might recommend you go to a diabetes wellness class if one is available in your area. I learned to eat at the one I went to since a dietitian taught part of the class. I wish you luck in loosing weight and getting healthier. You'll be glad you did.
