    étouffée....yummm.....

    so last night before I went to bed, I realized I had not gone to the store yet to get Mother's Day breakfast fixings...so at midnight, I am hightailing it to HEB to get the supplies.

    As I was making my way around, I saw some frozen etoufee in one of the freezer boxes, central market brand, like $6 I think, just add your meat. It was late so I said what the hey.

    Glad I did, it is quick, easy and man it's good.

    I know Blake, étouffée with this amount of effort was definitely worth it

          it was HEB central market branded.......not boxed, cooked up and frozen.....that's fine, you don't have to eat any....more for me....

          I've made some from scratch in the past.....this stuff is different than what I cook but it is still good stuff.

          They also sold some gumbo the same way

                        I made some etouffee yesterday out of a jar and it was as good as any I've every tried. Can't recall the brand, but it came out of Louisiana. Heat it up, add water and crawfish.

                          I have had this stuff too and it is pretty dang good.

                          I have some in my freezer I am going to make but I am going to make a roux to darken it a a bit and add some chopped green onions at the end.

                          I double the crawfish meat it calls for and tweak it just a bit.

                          It's a time saver and very good. Give it a try, guys.
