I've used the full face mask for nine years and no issues. I couldn't do the nose thing.

Ron, I'm with you. Can't remember when I ever slept without a mask on. Its all "mind over matter"....if you don't mind, it don't matter.

I have elcheapo BC/BS insurance but they will pay for a new mask every two months. As for your headaches, you should tell your doctor to let them monitor your oxygen intakes at night. Bet your O2 level is dropping too low. I had the same problem and they added a low does of oxygen through my ByPap at night.

If you have mild to moderate sleep apnea you may be able to contact your dentist and hae him/her construct a TAP appliance for you. They work in many cases where patients are unable to tolerate a CPAP mask. As far as insurance coverage for this appliance, you'll need to check with your insurance company. Good luck.
Since you are in SA, you can pm me and I'll check you out or refer you to somebody close that is knowledgable on TAP appliances.

I use the gel type mask, just over my nose, works good for me. Try all you can till you find the right style and size that suits you. The medical supplier should have several options for you to check out.

Been on a bi pap since 2004. Have missed one night w/o it. Have even used generator on it multiple times

I have Fischer and paykel nose mask and sleep on my side and sometimes on my face pratically. I always am at least on side with arm under pillow

Have they found out why you have to wear the mask instead of the soft pallette surgery ? Did they make any other suggestions as to whyvyou have apnea?

I sleep in the newest one out that covers the nose and I sleep every which way and it stays on tight. I'll post up a pic later today of the best one I found.
BTW, Those sleep analysis tests are horrible.

I had that surgery, they took out my toncils and trimmed the soft pallet. It was painful as all get out and didn't work. I've read that it didn't work for lots of people, but everyone's different though.
