    Final Countdown to Parenthood

Figured I'd start a "live" thread as opposed to add to this one.

Amy had her 36-week appointment on Thursday. Her blood pressure was up a bit, and the doctor was worried about preeclampsia, so she ordered blood work and sent her home to rest for the weekend.

Yesterday, the doctor called back and confirmed that she did have mild preeclampsia and wanted her to go to the hospital to stay until the baby was delivered, which she then scheduled for 7:30 am Monday morning. We knew from the beginning that Amy would need a c-section, so that's how we'll do it.

We had a late night last night. The staff is pretty busy, and several moms had been admitted at the same time. We had an ultrasound at about 11:20 pm and the tech gave the baby 8 out of 8 points on his "good baby" scale, so that was exciting.

Mom and baby are doing well, so it looks like Monday will really be the date. That's pretty special since it's my grandmother's birthday, so we really hope it works out that way.

I'll go ahead and ask for some prayers for my wife and daughter to come!

Best thing ever that could happen to a man in this world! Good luck to you and especially the little woman. May God bless you with a beautiful, healthy baby on Monday.

Nothing much to report. Lots of waiting. I was able to sneak out and grab a Mother (to be)'s Day present, as well as a little gift for when the baby comes. At this point, no news is good news, so looks like we'll just hang out here at the hospital until Monday morning.

Just talked to the on-call doctor and everything is ready to go for 7:30 tomorrow morning. We'll get up and get scrubbed in around 5:30 or so and get Amy prepped for surgery. The baby should be out 5-10 minutes after they start, then it will take some time to sew everything back up. I'll get to follow Baby around while she gets cleaned up and such, then we can get back together with Mama and get her her first meal.

We are so excited we can barely stand it. My folks and Amy's mom will be in the waiting room, and possibly her brother, so lots of family will be close and get to meet our little miracle tomorrow morning.

Thanks for following along and sending prayers and encouragement. More to come...
