I have had a commercial grade echo for about 10 years now and it still runs like it is brand new. No matter what the brand you have to take care of it by cleaning it after each use.

I have an Echo weedeater with interchangable heads - grass and saw blade - that is close to 12 years old and 2 Echo chainsaws that are over 10 years old. Other than normal wear and tear, everything runs perfect.

Mexicobowhunter is second to none in service and honesty.

I've owned several brands and can only recommend Stihl. My first gas powered pole saw was a Stihl HT101 and it still works great. Has been used mainly for commercial tree cutting. Something else that was good too was the attachment that turns a Stihl weedeater into a short shaft pole saw. Have a Stihl FS120 weedeater that I put the pole saw attachment on and it is very handy when the longer pole saw is not needed.

The teloscopic drive shaft on the HT101 drive shaft broke once before and had to replace it, but I'm pretty sure it broke because I was using a hedge trimmer attachment on it and Stihl doesn't recommend doing that. Worked great for trimming very tall shrubs.

I was in the market last yr, after comparing the 2 I ended up with the Echo. I dont think you can go wrong with either one.
I decided to get the fixed shaft over the extendable one and the Echo was cheaper at the time
I have Echo weedeater and pole saw and the only trouble I have had is I had to change out all of the fuel lines and the rubber plug they run through on the weedeater this year. Ethanol can be blamed for that

I have the big echo with the 6' extension. That thing is a beast... Seems like it will reach near the 20' mark in the tree if I remember correctly. I always use the shoulder strap with the extension on because it is way awkward. Using it like that will wear a guy out but you can really tear apart a tree quickly!!!!!
