Internet Connection-Modems out HELP!

OK...so right now I am tapped in through my blackberry on my work computer. Yesterday evening my internet stopped working so I tried to restart the router a few times with no luck. Come to find out the modem is not getting any power. I dont know what happened, I plugged it in many different sources and power strips that I know are good, no power.

SO... I need to get a new modem. I currently have a cable modem, can I get a DSL modem to replace it or do I have to stick with cable?

I am moving in about 3 weeks so I want to get something that will last in the new house. What do you guys think?

Sorry about your issues. We've had in/out probs with AT&T UVerse for weeks now and I. Am. Sick. Of. It.
I have connection now, of course, and they are sending the 3rd tech out this morning (since last Friday) to "finally fix it once and for all". Ha.

Try replacing the power brick first.

what internet provider do you have?

have you tried calling them to see if you can go to their office and pick up another modem and ac adapter?

if you have a multimeter, you could check your ac adapter to see if it's faulty

any reason for the thing to be fried, like power outage or storms prior to it not working?
