Anything is better than Gander Mtn.

Gander has a WAY better selection for hunting stuff... but their prices KEEP that selection on the shelf

I always check Academy first. Then Gander... those are our only two options out here though!

Come on Bass Pro, Cabelas! Yall are missing out on some good oilfield money out here!!!

Another tribute to Academy: for SEVERAL years now, the local Academy Store has contributed both merchandise and gift cards to our archery club, Collin County Bowhunters Assoc., for us to give away as door prizes at our big club shoot in June.

I want to publicly thank them here and ask they you guys give them your busimness whenever you can.

Yep. When I was a kid we would spend our hard earned money on a rod and then do something stupid and break it. We would take it back to Academy and tell them what happened and they would still replace it for free. The fact that it was our fault was irrelevent to them. Academy has been, and still is, my first choice when it comes to hunting and fishing stuff. If they dont have it I go elsewhere. A caveat: I learned as a teen that Academy employees are not the person to ask for advice, and Im good with that. Cabelas is my second choice. Gander is LAST! I will only go to Gander Mountain if I must have it, now and I have no other choice. And then when I get there most of the time it isnt in stock!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

I like Academy, I really do, they are great when something doesn't work... My biggest gripe with the stores here is they stop carrying a lot of the fishing stuff that works on Lake Travis and I can never find what I need now. They are not very good at telling you when they will have stock back in either.
