Deep Sea Headquarters, I went one time with the Wharf Cat and I would never waste my money on them again. I scheduled a trip about a month ahead and they called me when I was nearly there to tell me the boat was being worked on ( not broke down, they just decided to work on it) and would not be ready. Against my better judgement I agreed to a trip on another boat on another day. I don't think the "captain" had any more of a clue than I did on where to fish in the Gulf. 8hr trip with about 30 people on board and he could only produce 1 fish that had to be thrown back because it was too short
Deep Sea Headquarters was a great trip.
Good luck whatever you choose to do

Go with Dolphin Docks. Always caught fish with them.

I used to do a whole bunch of Galveston Party boat trips, picture below is from one of those trips... before they lowered snapper limit to 2 per person!

We have done drift trips on Scat Cat and Wharf cat that were pretty fun. But wanting to do a longer bottom trip. So starting to sound like Dolphin Docks?

As far as the private charter, I would love to support someone on here, but it's $1800 for a 38 foot bertram is kind of steep for the family of 4... I found a 31 foot bertram for $1200 Tica Rica.

Have dont both. Went with Dolphin Docks. Went on the 5 hour snapper trip last summer, and came back with 30 pounds of fillets. Traded my land snapper for another red snapper from another fisherman. The boat limited out.

The only thing I did not like about it was on the way back, the deckhands got to drift fish with their own equipment. The rest of us just had to watch. They caught triggerfish, dorado, and a king, on the way back in.

Had fun, and will do it again. Want to go on the longer trip, but dont know if the wife will allow that, especially with two little girls.

Went on a private charter, with me, mom, dad, brother, and wife. $500 for the first 4 hours, then $150/hour after that. Were supposed to go out, but they kept us in the bay. Wife caught a shark, brother caught Jack Crevalle that was like a bowling ball being reeled up through the water, and dad hooked into a tarpon, that got off because it jumped and the line went slack. Mom and me each caught a king. Fun times, and I think it was out of Dolphin Docks as well.

Dolphin docks would be my party boat recommendation. Go on a 12hour on the express with Capt. Tim. Going on a party boat after a private charter is like hunting the king ranch, and then going on a day hunt on a 1 acre ranch that you found on Craigs list... Definitely go during snapper season, tip/take care of the deckhands (I used to work for DD& Capt. Tim), and they will take care of you. Jason Slocum
