This deer took an arrow in the shoulder and the 2 270 bullets in the shoulder before he finally was down for the count. I shot him at 35 yds slightly quartering away. I hit him about an inch to far forward causing the broadhead to hit shoulder blade at an angle. I saw the arrow hit and bounce up, thinking I bounced it off the top of his back, I found my arrow and decided to call it a morning. I figured he had a cut on the top of his back, but would be fine. My guide told me to bring my gun for the afternoon hunt and if we saw him again, to shoot him immediately. This buck was still rutting hard and I guess the effects of the rut had him numb to pain. Right at dark, I see him come walking out of the brush and know immediately that it is him when I see the huge gash in his shoulder. It was getting late, so I shot him in the should to break him down to keep him from running off. He went straight down to the ground. 10 seconds later he is up on his feet walking off like nothing ever happened. I shot him again in the shoulder and this time he was down for good. There was no ground shrinkage on this deer when I finally got to walk up to him. The left browtine was completely broken off. As a 7pt, he scored 137 and 4/8.
