    Iphone Help?

So i woke up this morning and my alarm didnt go off. So I looked at my phone and it was stuck at the apple logo. It wouldnt turn on so I plugged it in to my computer and put it in recovery mode and tried to restore with iTunes. It gave me an unknown error. So, I updated my iTunes software and now it says it cant contact the software server. So, now here I am trying to solve this and I am approx. 2 hours late for school. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Edit: Okay so now it is letting me download the restore firmware. Il keep this updated if it works or i'll post up the errors that come up if it doesn't work.

Edit #2: Just got an errorsaying "network connection timed out". My internet is working great so I don't know why it would say this??

Edit #3: Downloading the 5.1 software from an alternate source instead of iTunes. Hopefully I can do a shift + restore and select the firmware and be able to restore it.

Mine gave me a black screen of death yesterday. I took to AT&T and the lady held down the HOME and TOP button simultaneously. It seemed like for 2 minutes. She said if happens again hold down the buttons and different questions/things will appear on the screen.. Ignore and keep holding until the apple appears.. My phone works so give it a try

did you try turning it completely off...holding both buttons down till it completely shuts off (don't stop and swipe the off screen prompt, keep holding)....then wait a few seconds and do the same to turn back on.

Weird. Is it backed up? If so, I'd consider doing a full reset of the phone. Does it have a full charge??

Yeah if you hold how those two buttons until you see the apple logo, that's called a "hard reset". Your phone is like a computer and needs to be turned off and back on once a day or every other day to run properly.

Yes, but it wont let me do a full restore. It keeps giving me errors.

Remove the battery and let it reset?

Good idea. However I dont have the right screwdriver to open the phone to be able to get to the battery. I feel like there are multipe solutions to fix this problem but there is always something that wont allow it to work.

agree thats a negative. phone should be fine left on at all times.

                          Hard reset when needed

That's what's the person at the apple store told me. I do it when my phone is sluggish or an app is crashing or the phone is acting funny. Sometimes I'll do it even when it's not.

When I had an iphone, the apple folks told me it was actually good to shut the phone off for a few minutes each day. Something about clearing itself or resetting it. I did this in the mornings and never really had any issues.
