We are planning on burning about 1000 acres in Feb. Does make finding sheds pretty easy.

I know of at least one pasture our rancher plans to burn. I wish he'd burn it all!

              Yep...

Take a look at this picture from Lee County.

The date is CORRECT on the picture...

You gotta love your property owner when they set a burn like this one in the middle of the season!

You know you got a good fire going when the smoke sets off your trail camera!

They burned the place that borders our little ranch on two sided over Thanksgiving. It did not help the hunting.

I took this picture while on stand about 4:45 pm and it was sunny and clear outside.

I don't understand why they would be burning in Oct, Nov, or Dec, especially if you have livestock. Getting rid of your winter grass and the grass is dormant anyways. We have always burned the middle of Feb before the spring rains. As soon as the new growth emerges the deer flock to the area.

ditto here too Bill, I went to my stand this weekend only to find my whole area burned out !!! Somehow the fire missed my pop-up or someone was there to stomp it out. Like you said right in the middle of the season. When the sun came up sunday morn all I saw was field of black.

BrandonA, I wish they had not done it at all, but I did talk to the Rancher and he said they are getting ready to run cattle on it next year. Nothing there now and they don't hunt it. So it was only a bother to me on the timing, not them.

Ground Threat I swear I could see that one from San Antonio today. I was plowing on one place and there was a huge stream of smoke way up into the stratosphere and I knew it was a long way down to the fire. Wonder if it was that one?
