      So procedure:
      1. Cut down tree
      2. Powerwash the heck out of it
      3. Clear cedar stain them
      4. Put in place

Is it best to cut down a dead or living tree?
Do I need to let them dry for a period, either before powerwash or after?
Cut & lay them on other logs to keep them off the ground for 3-4 months.

        I did mine like this:
        1. Cut down tree
        2. Cut/trim off all the limbs
        3. Power wash
        4. Layed them on saw horses for about a week to dry
        5. Hauled them to location, measured and cut to length
        6. Put in place
        7. Clear stained them

        Worked pretty well.
