    Changes to Northgate

    Aggies, what say you?

    #2
i am not aggie, but i have drank a cold beer or 2 on northgate and this sounds like a great idea. i love sitting on a patio drinking a cold one on a nice day. but mark my words, some dumb arse will throw a beer bottle at a car or something stupid like that and screw it up for everyone.

The part about restricting traffic makes me nervous. Navigating and parking on northgate is tough as it is. But I'll be turning 21 in a few months, so I'm sure I'll enjoy northgate (responsibly) once the changes are made.

Back in the day you use to be able to. That was long before they built the big parking lot that you have to pay to park in. Lots of things have changed around there. You could also smoke in a bar then. I don't think it will last long.

Now days, I stay away from there. I drink at home or at Murphy's Law.

Not to rub it in... but if you didn't know, the new MSC opened last weekend and it is incredible. I was lucky enough to see the old one before it was dozed, and I'm glad to see that they modeled the new one after the old.

Shows how out of the loop I am, I had no idea that a new MSC was built. I hope you still have to take your hat off.

When I was there you could sit out on the back porch of Fitzs...which was all you needed. Why do they keep trying to change things and make Aggieland like everywhere else.

Yep, it closed a few years ago and they dozed it. The new one looks great though. You do still have to take your hat off, and stay off the grass.

The new MSC is nice, never saw the old one though

So the plan is to reduce majority of traffic on university and make the area more sociable and outside dining? I'm half way following it

Thats exactly how it was when I was there.. used to drag up old couches and listen to live music out there while enjoying a cool tasty beverage.

Actually I talked my wife into our first date at a concert behind the chicken right when the promenade was finished.. Was Cooder Graw playing if i remember right.

When I got to A&M that was just a mud lot out there with no high rises. You could look over the church and watch the sunset.. Cant do that anymore

Love it. I'm excited. Almost makes me sad to graduate in December...almost.

While not an Aggie, I have enjoyed a many of nights on Northgate. I also enjoy drinking outside, so this is a win-win.
