So I recently got a Savage 22-250 and love the way it shoots. my question is if I am shooting it at coyotes which bullet is the best for maximum damage. I am not keeping the fur and just want to thin them out on our lease in South texas before the fawns hit the ground. Currently shooting Superformance 50 gr V-Max. Which load would you shoot to really blow up some critters?

Those should get the job done.It really just depends on where you hit them though. If you hit bone it'll "splash" and leave a big hole sometimes. But if that happens you could also have them run off to die which aint no good.On smaller critters you'll see alot more damage almost all the time.My Uncle used 36gr. Varmint Grenades on a few coyotes and it didn't tear them up and they weren't good as far as knocking them down for good either. But on prairie dogs and things like that, those bullets will basically turn them into a pink mist. But then again 50gr or 55gr V-Max bullets will basically do the same thing.

I shoot the 50gr. Vmax from Hornady for coyotes out of my 22-250. Unless you get a head shot or just graze them, it won't damage hide. I haven't had one go anywhere with that load. They are all DRT. I shoot the 55gr. Vmax out of my AR with same results. The Hornady loads have also been the most accurate out of my rifles.
