    Low Turkey Numbers

How many here have been seeing fewer turkeys that last three years.

I think it might be directly related to the weather.

two bad winters(blizard in North Tx) and then the drought!

Last summer's drought killed millions upon millions of animals through-out Texas. Even if they had water........field conditions were down to a "starve to death" conditions in so many areas.

When the State's native trees are dying by the millions....it's NO BUENO for everything else.

I was prepared for the worst, and to my surprise, we have as many if not more birds than in seasons past.......

I've seen more in the Victoria area this year than I have in the past 4 years. Not sure why but definitely more birds around the areas I hunt.

Coleman numbers are down but with new grass growth should be a good hatch.

I've lived in Olney off and on all my life and in a normal year you can drive down about any country road in the spring and likely see a bird or two.

I have as of yet seen any turkeys the last two years and only heard one gobble near Indian mound road two weeks ago.

I just think we just don't have the birds that we use to have!

I would say we have less birds on our place than last year based on cameras and the spring season results. The good news is that the conditions for the future new poults are excellent..
