    Speed limit question

Is it common for a road to have a speed limit that is different going one direction than it is going the other? I thought stretches of highway were rated for the same speed regardless of direction, but there are at least two instances I know of in the Lindale/Tyler area where the speed traveling one direction is different than the speed going in the other direction.

    Is this common?

Actually, at least two of these are out in the country.

I've only seen that on split highway type roads... not on a dual lane road..

Common. Lowering speed for congestion or higher population ahead. Raising speed on other side because leaving the population.

One of the reasons I ask is because on one of these stretches there is a LEO that sits there occasionally. I was wondering if he/she would write a ticket based on the lower speed, the higher speed, or would actually base it on direction of travel.

I have never gotten a ticket there, and this is NOT a LEO bashing thread. Just wondering what the protocol would be and if this is typical (different speeds).

Maybe they are changing speed limit signs and haven't gotten to that side yet.

                  Where is this at?

I drive it everyday, it is only a 5mph difference I think. Could be wrong, I just normally roll with the flow.

I heard that the Lindale police will not mess with you under 80mph when they are out on I20, which in itself is rare.

And it should be enforced on the direction you are traveling if it is different in each direction

maybe this? I know they are in the middle of changing the speed limit signs currently

My thoughts exactly? Is this a Spanish term?

It may have to do with there being a one sided intersection or homes with driveways to the road on one side

Just noticed that on Fort Worth Hwy between Weatherford and Hudson Oaks. Faster going West than going East.
