I personally am out of the bug hole AR build & am happy with moa+ / battle gun accuracy. Lots of varmint hunters to cater to though.

good luck!! I wish i had gotten into the machining racket as i had access as a lad too.
Good luck on the sponsor thing they want bow related sponsors

I think if you can get started and get a nice following then it will take off, but like everyone said "lots of people are doing it".

Ben from Bison Armory did it with 6.8 uppers now he is busy as could be.

I will be a guine pig for a test upper. I am a sucker for a bug hole AR. I shoot 3-gun, pigs and varmint hunt with my AR's. I have a lower that needs some lovin'. I am in the market for a larger than 5.56 upper as well. I've been thinking about a Larue upper for awhile.

Start small, build a name and find a niche that needs to be filled. Good luck.

Go for it. LaRue, JP etc all started the same way, catering to a niche crowd and business exploded. Look at JP and Larue pricing, $2000 for entry level weapons.

I found a part time gunsmith who worked at the USMC Quantico Sniper School Armory. He builds an incredible rifle, and stays part time only. Doesn't want his "hobby" to become work. Great way to stay in the game, make some extra coin, and not to have to rely on it to pay the bills.

So Blake is grinding up arrowheads in his Blaze??

I would become a sponsor with my ffl if I thought it was viable & have talked to admins about it...it simply doesn't make any sense for me or the members, as margins are low on firearms and the sales tax normally kills the deal for Texas residents.

I was just telling you what I was told maybe it has changed. I agree with you though

Edit- I knew they didn't like me

Sponsor would be easy to get, they dont like new sponsor's to compete with existing sponsors. From my experience they want outdoors/hunting related sponsors(gun or bow), I tried to get one for my business on the website, but they keep the keep the website outdoors/hunting only. IMO

Lots of good info here. Most of you guys sound like you could be on the executive branch of this new business. I think if you can build a good reliable product and get them out fast you may do good. If they are worth the money word will get around and they will sell.

This is my understanding as well...It's always under consideration.

The OP may have more merit not having to pay extra 4473 $$$$ as well...will need a tax i.d. # to get mfg/wholesale pricing or go through machine shop's.
