COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M and Texas have agreed to move their annual rivalry football game back to Thanksgiving night, Aggies athletic director Bill Byrne said Monday.
The move, however, is awaiting league approval, according to sources on both sides. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe couldn’t be reached on Monday night.
Byrne said by e-mail on Monday that “we’ve agreed to it,” when asked if A&M and UT were moving the game back to Thanksgiving night. The series is expected to crank back up on Thanksgiving night this year.
A&M and Texas last played on Thanksgiving in 1993 at Kyle Field.
