    Best back pack.

What is the best backpack in your opinion for those long hikes in and then the long hike out with a deer or elk quarter in tow? Need to get one before next season, because I am planning on hunting Meredith a few times this upcoming fall season.
Going to get one this summer but doing my research now so I can get lots of options on the table.

I just did some research and decided on a Badlands Sacrifice. We're going to be packing in for a few days so I need the extra space but the pack is still very light at 3.6 lbs. If you're going to do some day hunts I would look at the Badlands 2200 or Superday.

But as far as brand at a reasonable price...

    Badlands
    Elberstock (sp)
    Blacks Creek

Note: The SuperDay is not an internal frame pack.

Kifaru Timberline. More specific, the Timberline DT series. 3 different packs, one frame. Choose your size, get a different size later, and use same frame.

Had the Badlands 2200 on my back for seven days in CO, like it a lot. Although I have not hauled any quarters out with it.

Badlands 2200 or 2800 best out there IMHO

I can get some really good deals on Elberstock if needed. They are nice packs

              I agree...
              Kifaru!
I've had an EMR and now a timberline 1, I would recommend the T1 for comfort, and the duplex T1 for hauling out the elk in halves!
You can make do with eberlestock, blacks creek, or badlands.... Or step up to a kifaru or mystery ranch. Huge difference.

Ok looked at the badlands. Liked the 2200 as a daypack type pack. But really like the look of the Ox for a 4 day pack in elk/deer type hunt in colorado. It also looked like you could haul a ton of meat with that thing. If you had to only get one which would you pick with mainly day hunts in mind?

I have a 2200 badlands and it is great for a 2-3 day hunt. I have done a 4 day hunt with it and it was crammed full. If you are looking at 4-5-6-7- days, you need to go with a larger option. I am pleased with the quality of the badlands but I am entrigued by the new lightweight packs from KUIU.

backpacks are the never ending quest for me. I have dozens and never find the one that i like completely.

I do like the badlands packs but not enough pockets, the eberlestock but I have that the model thats my favorite has the built in gun scabbard, and on and on and on . . . .

Ok good to know. So for a day hunt go with the 2200, for a week long hunt on the top of a mountain go with the Ox. Will be looking into a daypack that is capable of hauling out a deboned deer.

Have a lot of votes for the badlands, a few for eberlestock, and a few for kifaru. Any others worth looking into?
