I can't tell you which it is but I can tell you that it will mess you up. I unknowling got it all over my face while going up a tree with a tree climber. I ended up at the doctors the next day with my entire face swollen, itching, and oozing.

There are 2 vines but they look the exact same.

It is not poison sumac, its most likely poison oak, but also some looks like ivy.

Only thing you can do is cut it down. Throw away the axe you cut it down with because it will be covered in the oil. DO NOT burn it.

Poison oak or ivy I can never tell the difference. I understand that there are over 100 varities (sp?) It is definately one of them.

Also, leaves can vary pretty significantly from plant to plant, or even within the same plant.

I think it washes off pretty easily with soap and water.

Remember this, it can and will spread from one person to another.

I thought that it couldn't. Once you shower and wash the oil off??

Here are some good pics of poison ivy, oak and sumac. Teh oak and sumac shows red stems. The oak in the pic does not look at all like the pic you posted.
Poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac are all known to cause an itchy rash. But they’re not the only plants that can irritate your skin. Get to know wood nettle, stinging nettle, leadwort, ragweed, giant hogweed, and more.

Lameduck has it right "leaves of three let it be", four or more leaves and you should be okay. Typically...

Just ask my wife. She has got it from me more times than we can remember over the years. When I get it now, its off to another bed.

I'm allergic to all three so bad I have been in the hospital once, have been tied to the bed [arms an legs] so I could not scratch, an in a program taking shots each spring in hopes of not geting it which did not work.

Needless to say I do the best I can to stay clear of it

Cut the bottom of the vine and put roundup on it. Then go to the Doc and get a steroid shot.
