    Pigs after being hit

I'm sitting in the treewaiting for this big boar that has been coming in and just thinking- do they lay up likes deer will do, or do they just keep running and never look back? It seems to me that the ones I've hit in the past were never found, or recovered a LONG way from where I shot them. Even a good hit pig seems to run forever. I really am hoping for a shot at this boar. He sure will help in the Colorado county hog contest, but sure don't want to lose him. I've even thought about a neck shot or spine shot.

For what it is worth, I have never seen a lung-shot hog go very far.

Closest one I found ran only 50 yrds with a quartered away shot.
The one in my profile pic ran forever. Lucked out and found him on a trail on the other side of the property. That was a broadside shot. Guess I missed the lungs.

Their lungs are way forward compared to a deer.
If you get the lungs they don't go far

^^^^^. Too many people aim a little too far behind the shoulder, and on a hog thats too far back. Keep it tight in the opposite arm pit and they wont make it hardly out of sight.....if they do at all

double lung on a hog is the way to go, forget the heart shot. In my experience they always run back to where they came from ie. where they bed down.

Wait for the Front leg to go up by his snout. Keep the shot in the lower 1/4 of the pig and tight to his front leg.

a tad lower and forward than what a shot on a deer would be.. heart or lungs and they will be close when you find them

I'm tryin bro! He's been showing up in the mornings again once the full moon died, but today it's kinda windy...and a lot cooler than I expected. I didn't come prepared. Lol
I sure hope he makes his rounds and comes here soon. I don't wanna think I got up at 4:30 on a Saturday for nothing!
