Sailor on here got me thinking that do you ever dread the day you can't do things with your dad or watch him do things that he loves to do but can't anymore. Like today watching him wade fish. He is 68 and loves it but I know there will be a day when he can't. I don't want it to happen but hey it's all in gods hands. So just saying do all you can with your dad while you can.

I dread that day. I try to do as much with my Dad as I can. You can't take a day for granted! This is me and him and his 2011 buck from Coryell County. The first deer that he has taken in 6 years and the only time I've been with him when he pulled the trigger on a good buck. Couldn't have been more proud of him! He's gotten to where he would rather just watch than shoot unless its a good one. I'm thankful often that I was there with him.

My father passed away in '06 at 57.
He was my father, friend, mentor, boss, outdoor buddy, and the greatest man I've ever met! I'll never fill his shoes or the void he left behind, so I strive to pound out a new path that resembles the one he walked.
I think of him often and it kills me that he wasn't here to hold his first and only grandson, a year ago.
For those of you whom still have your pops... Don't let a day go by that you could have spent in the field with him.Last edited by Chad C; 04-19-2012, 09:22 PM.
