    Question about Rams

GS'ers.... I've got a June hunt at Diamond C, going for a Ram and Hog. I've got the bacon figured out. My question is what all to do with the Ram. Other than some kind of mount, haven't decided which. Is the meat good, what methods to cook? How expensive would it be to have the cape made into some cool dog blanket? I need ideas and suggestions. Thanks,

to me.. the only thing the meat is good for is either donating it or using it for coyote bait.

Don't care for sheep much, even in sausage. We used to process ours into jap and cheese sausage both summer and link but at 3.50 a lb that got to be a little much. Now we take our goats and slow cook them on the smoker. Serve it with everything like fajitas and most people scarf it down.

I dont like them therefore I dont shoot them. The taste is not something I care for. The smell alone does it for me.

I find it a lot like lamb. The rarer, the better. Put some chutney on it and it is tasty.

I hate the meat not matter how its cooked, but if I had to eat jal and cheese summer sausage or smoked with lots of barbeque sauce. The capes dont tan well into blankets or rugs they shed bad usually...

yup...give the meat to someone who wants it. rams are trophies for the wall and they make cool euro mounts. you will have a blast stalking pigs at the Diamond C. good luck

Depending on age(1/2 - 3/4 Curl) ... I've always eaten the Ram's I shot. That being said, Older Rams are Tough and some stink more than others

I had a runnin argument with Cooper at KJO. He said ain't NO WAY to cook a ram, I said Ain't nuthin that Italian Dressin, Bacon, & slow smokin couldn't cure. 4 guys on my hunt this wknd killed rams. 1 wiff changed my mind completely! Them is some of the stankiest animals, other than audad(sp?) I ever smelled. Methinks a euro is the best way to go.
