Thinking about switching from at&t to verizon for a few reasons.

For those of you who have verizon how is your service around the Hill Country area. My lease is in the Harper area. I will be around the Junction, Kerrville areas mostly as well as a buddies place in New Braunfels. I will travel as far south as the Catarina area.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'll be following this, I was thinking of doing the same thing, still on the fence. Coverage is the only thing holding me back.

I have Verizon and have used it in all the locations you mentioned above with no problems. Had both companies at one time due to my company phone being AT&T and the Verizon got better reception for the most part.

I have pretty good service on my lease near San Marcos with Verizon, while those with AT&T don't, but it seems like more and more, I'm the one that doesn't have any service, while those with AT&T are still tapatalking up a storm, and talking on the phone. There's not a perfect carrier out there, obviously.....

Verizon is expensive but has the best coverage area

Verizon doesn't work from Bandera west to Rocksprings.

We had Verizon & Sprint phones and aircards for laptops at work. After 3 years we finally convinced them to switch us BACK to AT&T(we had AT&T before) because of spotty coverage outside of major cities.

IMO, if you only need it inside most city limits, then Verizon is OK. If you also need it on a dirt road or in a pasture then go with AT&T. My area is a triangle between Yoakum, San Marcos, and Eagle Lake so that's not quite the Hill Country and may be different than the area you're asking about.

I know in my hometown of Woodville, we were there this weekend for Easter, I had very limited service with at&t. I would have 3 bars at most of their edge network and my daughter's verizon would have full/almost full 3g and so would my moms work blackberry. I know there is no one perfect company, but dang I hate not being able to do the things I want with my phone.

If verizon has coverage in all the areas that I will go, then I'll switch. Plus, I get a 25% discount from them as well for preferred employer.

I have both a Verizon and an AT&T phone. I also travel all over Texas and Oklahoma for my job. Coverage is good for the most part with either. The biggest gripe I have about Verizon is the lack of data while on the phone.
Can't tell you haw many times I'm trying to look something up while talking and cant. You can with AT&T.
On the other hand if you have an LTE phone, Verizon will work for both assuming you are in an LTE area.
Now if I could just get a wifi hotspot feature on the AT&T iPad, I wouldn't worry about that limiting factor from Verizon.

I've had both, when it comes down to it I have had better service with my Verizon than my wife or buddy have had with AT&T. Mine works fine in rock springs as long as its not in a hole. I notice AT&T does seem to work better in deep south Texas and in the bay than Verizon.

when we lived in mountain home, we had fairly good verizon service all round 41 and IH 10 area. I spent a lot of time in Harper, and sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. Once you get out past the Garven Store, headed towards Rock Springs, you will lose service. Junction, never gave me any problems. Rarely had service between Harper and Fred unless I stopped on the side of the road on a high spot. I know AT&T works well all around the leakey/concan area and verizon does not.

ATT is building a tower at the intersection of 83 and 41. Across the street from Garven Store
