    New H process.

Some of you may not like me posting this PSA feeling it will decrease your odds of being drawn. Sorry.

Change in application procedure for Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge archery deer hunt By Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge Apr 5, 2012 Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge will be using a new process to apply for the annual archery deer hunt. The permit application process will be managed through a web-based system operated by the Kinsail Corporation. Hunters will be able to apply on-line for the 2012 hunt beginning May 1 by visiting www.hagermanpermits.com, completing the application process, and submitting the required fee (credit cards accepted). A non-refundable $10.00 application fee per person will be required and entries are limited to one per person. Hunters may list up to one buddy on the application and may be selected for a maximum of one hunt per season. The 2012 hunt dates are November 2nd-4th, November 16th-18th, and November 30th-December 2nd. Hunters unable to apply on-line may pick up a paper application form at the Refuge Headquarters, or print one from the hunt permit website. Any paper forms must be sent to Hagerman NWR, c/o Kinsail Corporation, P.O. Box 7087, Arlington, VA 22207 and be received by Kinsail no later than June 8 to be eligible. All checks, money orders, or cashier’s checks must be made out to Kinsail Corporation. Applications for the deer hunt will be accepted May 1 through June 8 and a computer program will randomly select applicants to receive permits. The drawing will be held on June 11 and successful applicants notified by June 18. Successful hunters will be required to submit a $50 permit fee and a $5 permit processing fee to Kinsail no later than August 1. The initial list of computer-generated names will be used in order to fill any vacant slots. Selectees will be notified by August 8th with fees due by September 12. Incomplete applications or those that cannot be read due to poor handwriting will not be considered in the drawing process. Applications without required fees will also be discarded. All hunters must have completed a bow hunter safety course prior to applying for Hagerman NWR archery deer hunts. Please contact the Refuge at (903) 786-2826 Monday through Friday 7:30-4:00 for additional details on how to apply. Visit http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges...rman/hunt.html for current Refuge hunting regulations.

Good info only thing I am curious about is proficiency test. How do you take care of that if drawn? Now it can't make my drawing chances any worse it took me six years to draw in the first time last year. So I wasn't expecting to get drawn again till the 2017 season. lol

I have been drawn twice in the last 4 years. And that was before they started the preference point system. May e someone should call Rick at the refuge headquarters and ask about the proficieny part of it. That is a great question!

I always assumed I didn't get drawn due to poor handwriting.

          Now I'm a shoe-in!

The proficiency test can be taken care of by any bowhunter ed instructor, or, at any 3-d shoot. Just contact a range official at a shoot.

It actually looks like it might be easier than the old process. I always hated the post card and cashier check process. I will gladly pay more to avoid that.

Yeah it says that on the link you posted. How do you turn in your proficiency test score. Use to you turned it in with your permit payment. Now when and who do you turn it in too and do you have till your hunt date to take the proficiency test?

NO need to apply folks this process is way to complicated and cost is too much. No deer up there any way.

Is it a very crowded place?

                      Thanks!!

Just talked to them and if drawn then send in your score card with your $50 & $5 permit fees. They may even have a site later to scan and send in a copy of the score card by then.
