    Ford 6.0 Question

I'm looking to trade off my 1/2 ton gasser and get a big boy truck again. I'm not going new EVER AGAIN! I found a 08 King Ranch F250 with $33 on the sticker. My mom had a 05 6.0 and it was junk! I had a buddy tell me they got the bugs worked out down the road. Any issues with the 08's?

I'm also looking at a '11 6.7 low miles that's NICE but it's not $33 either. What's the green screen say?

The only way I would drive a 6.0 would be as a company truck when somebody else is responsible for paying for it and it's repair...bugs or no bugs.......not to mention the mileage is the suck as well.

I would stay away from the 6.0.

There are NO good years for the 6.0.

That's kind of what I was thinking Jason. I was really doing some wishful thinking I think

            '08's are not 6.0's

Repair costs are killer on the 6.0, that said they are some good ones out there that will run forever, just not worth the risk IMO.

Not sure you would go dodge, but FYI brents truck gets 18 to 20 mpg now that he deleted all the DPF stuff, not sure if ford can touch that. I think his is a 2010 model maybe 11 and it was around that 33 mark. The new 6.7 seems to be a good motor in ford though.

If you get a late model 6.0 2006-2007 it should be good. I have a 2006 that runs great a have had no problems. The 08 should be a 6.4 which has been a good engine just get horrible gas mileage unless you do a egr delete to get rid of the emissions junk. The 2011 is the way to go if it has the new 6.7. The 6.7 has 400hp and most people are reporting 20mpgs! My father in law has a f350 dually with the 6.7 and it is awesome.

Those two words always concern me.

Anyway. I wouldn't touch a 6.0 with a stick and I'd need a real long one to get close to a 6.4. Run probably ten different ones and they all end up the same.

Not going with a Dodge Kris. I keep hearing bad things about their new motor and they've never built a truck with a decent transmission. It's a shame too cause I really like the looks of the new Dodge.

                          I found a 2011 F250 with 12k for around $47. I may have to go that route.

If you go with the 6.0, Just be ready to drop 5-7K out of the gate. If you go in and put the BulletProof EGR kit on it, Heads bolts, and exhaust the truck wont let you down. Our mechanic wont warranty his job if you have him put the MotorCraft EGR parts back, Bulletproof syste, gets a lifetime warranty.

Stay away from the 6.0! I have an 06 and have spent over $6000 on it so far. And I would rather spend the money on a new 6.7 rather than the 6.4. 6.4 diesels started in the 2008 Ford F series.
