    Alligator hide care?

Is it okay to freeze a gator hide after it has been salted?

I'm not too sure on gators, but if it is dried and salted I would think it would be ok in a dry cool area for awhile.

Yes it is fine. I froze mine for a year before getting it tanned and boots made.

Good deal, who'd you use for your tanning and boots? I need to have a belt made and maybe a wallet for my son-

If it is salted and dried there is no need to freeze it as long as you can keep it dry and free from bugs.

Alright now y'all got me confused-

I haven't skinned or salted the gator yet( waiting til we catch our last one) so should I just skin it and freeze it, no salt? Or skin it, salt it and dry it before freezing?

What does it cost to get a pair of boots made? Size 11.5 if that matters?

Yes. Skin it and freeze it. Do not salt it if your going to freeze it.

Much cheaper to buy the boots already made

It will cost you lots of money to tan the hide and then have a boot maker make your boots

I'm guessing 1500-1800 to have them made

Use the search feature and See my previous post with #'s (search boots )
