This has a lot to do with it, maybe added by the hog thing.

I hate it when a snake startles me. I don't mind killing a buzzworm when its too close to camp.

The snakes are not "evolving." Evolution takes a loooong time.

Not from hogs, not from us

It's a misconception that a rattlesnake rattles at every little thing. Think about it this way....some dogs bark more than others.

              google Indigo Snake.

It's a large nonvenomous snake that eats rattlers.

Not really sure whatcha gonna do about it. Hawaii has no snakes. Western Montana has very few snakes. Texas is full of snakes. Its just a snakey place. Id for sure have your kids wear snake gear if that is a concern.

We are definitely chapped and booted up. But still wouldn't take much of a high strike on kids

I just killed a 4' Rattler about 20 minutes ago. The first one I have seen in about a year.

Like I've always said, a snake is a snake is a snake.

i havent seen a rattler now at my place in 10 yrs, but dem indigos are everywhere!
Do this if you want to see how fast a rattlesnake can try to get away. Emphasis on try because they are not going to get away Fun to see this play out.

I have only seen on film or video not up close and personal.

From what I have read this is very close to the truth. The idea is that we are killing the ones we see or hear. The ones we don't kill are the ones we don't hear. Scientist believe that it is more of a genetic make up that causes the snakes not to rattle. Kind of developing another self defence system.

That is awesome footage! I've seen a few indigos in Webb County, but never attacking a rattler.
