I thought the same when I first saw it but it's a rattlesnake. You can see the black and white bands on its tail.

Wouldnt the end of the tail point upwards if it was a rattler? Every encounter I have that's usually a sign but I am no expert just curious.

Yep that's one way to tell if you see one on the road.Sometimes you can see the rattles stickin up off the ground so that's one way to tell without actually goin back and lookin at the snake that's crawling across the road. The rattles on that snake are on the right side of the picture. You can see the rattle shining in the sun kinda pointed upwards like you're talkin about. When I first looked at it I was thinkin the head end was the tail end.But you can see the rattles in the picture they look yellow almost.

Drove up on 2 Friday while driving through the pasture. Thats the most I've seen just ridding around. Got me looking at anything that moved.

Killed these 2 this past saturday. They were coming out of their dens (under big rocks) We saw 7 total. We did notice that everyone that we saw came from dens that were right by tanks so be especially careful around water.

Popup is in Coleman. Not far from it are some big slab type rocks. Suspect there is a den there or in a old brush pile near by. Will be hunting from the bow tower thats not far away. Don't think the popup sounds inviting right now. Might already have guest. Snake boots are a must with all the tall thick green vegitation. You could be on top of one and never see it. But pigs need kill'in and turkey's need call'in. Be careful out there.
